Rethinking Skincare in the Plastic Surgeon's Office: 'Less is More' is the New Protocol at the Few Institute for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery
Patients continue to want more for less -- less recovery time, that is. Dr. Julius Few's new skin stimulating program limits lost work time and also won't break the budget.

CHICAGO, IL, July 06, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- When it comes to your skin, we're all looking for a way to turn back the clock. But while chemical peels and laser resurfacing treatments can produce good results fairly quickly, they can also be damaging to your skin, says plastic surgeon and skincare expert Julius Few, MD, of SkinSuite Skin Center at The Few Institute (TFI) for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery in Chicago.

According to Dr. Few, It's time to rethink this approach.

"It's the 'norm' to peel away the bad skin to get to the good," Dr. Few explains. "But in the process of destroying the bad, you also harm part of the good. At TFI and SkinSuite Skin Center, we approach skincare strategically: It's not about 'destruction' of the skin, which can require a significant amount of time to heal; it's about stimulating healthy and nutritious skin activity."

At the same time, Dr. Few says that patients don't have a whole lot of downtime, so the concept of "less is more" guides his philosophy -- less downtime, a lower per-session cost, and more natural results.

"You get the most natural-looking results from bringing dermatologic expertise and plastic surgery together. That's what we do at TFI SkinSuite (www.TFIskinsuite.com)."

These facts together inspired Dr. Few to develop his "skin stimulating" concept.

Dr. Few's skin stimulating protocol includes the use of selective retinoic acids, moisturizing peels and skincare, volume restoration, minimally invasive procedures to reposition facial tissue, and nonsurgical skin tightening to maintain post-procedure results.

"This approach is cost effective from two perspectives: It limits lost work time, often less than 5 days for surgery, and it's also less expensive, as the cost is spread out over time," says Dr. Few.

And the physical results? A more natural look maintained for a longer period of time.
