August 02, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- - Numbers of older UK men going under the knife to keep partners happy soaring
- 67% are in a relationship with a woman at least ten years younger
- Sugar daddies going for facelifts, eyebag removal and moob jobs at cosmetic surgery clinics
- Partners want their sugar daddies to go under the knife
- Surge in UK men having cosmetic surgery to keep up with younger partners
A need to stay as young-looking as their partner is driving more and more men to have cosmetic surgery in the UK. This is according to Transform Cosmetic Surgery Group, which has reported on the Sugar Daddy Surgery trend in a new survey.
A staggering 102% rise in patients aged 55 and over has been recorded at Transform, with 33% of all male patients now falling into this age group. Perhaps unsurprisingly, 67% of these men are stepping out with a woman at least a decade their junior.
One sugar daddy who've all read about is Michael Douglas, husband of Catherine Zeta Jones. The Hollywood legend has long rumoured to have had cosmetic surgery to keep up with his actress wife, who's 25 years younger than him.
However, it's not just celebrities going under the knife in pursuit of a more youthful appearance. According to the Transform report, the three most popular treatments among the male over 55s are eyebag removal, facelifts and 'moob jobs'.
Non-surgical anti-aging treatments are also catching the eye of sugar daddies looking to wind back the clock for their younger partners. Half of Botox patients and more than a quarter of male dermal filler patients are aged over 55 at Transform.
And when it comes to the reason for going under the knife or having a non-surgical treatment, 76% of over 55s say their partner has influenced their need to look young, while for just under half, it was their partner that suggested they pick up the phone and find out more about cosmetic surgery.
Spokesperson for the Transform Cosmetic Surgery Group Shami Thomas commented: "Many older men feel pressure to keep up with younger, attractive partners and as cosmetic surgery is becoming more widely acceptable and available, they naturally turn to anti-aging procedures to achieve a younger look.
"With celebrity 'sugar daddies' such as Michael Douglas openly admitting to having surgery, it's now more attainable and less of a taboo.
"The effects of surgery are far from just skin deep - the majority of patients claim surgery has changed their life completely - and many sugar daddies who come to us have such a confidence boost from the cosmetic surgery."
